New Fabrics and a Holiday!

I love new fabric, and I love it even more when it arrives on my birthday!

Yesterday I had a new range from Art Gallery Fabrics arrived, called Tule by designer Leah Duncan. This range is based on the Nevada desert and its quite spectacular.

I also got some sneaky early Layer Cakes of Daydream, an upcoming range from Kate Spain. Unfortunately the price of these has increased as the lower Aussie dollar gets passed along. I swallowed the last rise but couldn't take this one as well. The colours in this range are fab!

And just in case you didn't know, I've got the gorgeous pink Lola Ladybug Panels from the Melly & Me range, Snug as a Bug. I also have 5" squares and rolie polies in stock.

And lucky last...I'm off overseas tomorrow! My mum will be running the shop as per last time, so orders will continue going out, but may take up to 48 hours rather than the usual 24 to be dispatched. See you in a month!

Rainbow Cake

Also known around here as "The Cake of Doom"...

I finally did it! I've been wanting to make one for ages, and my birthday was the perfect excuse. I love the gasp that I heard from everyone when I cut it open and produced the first slice.

It was quite easy to make, just a little time consuming to cook the cakes two at a time ( I only have two tins). Assembling wasn't too difficult, but my mum's kitchen floor is still covered in 100s and 1000s.

I used the recipe from over here; three times the cake mix, but only double icing. Even with thin slices most people shared with a friend; it's a huge cake. And do the crumb coat; I only did a thin one but it really makes a difference.

Qantas Lunch at Rockpool

I was a very lucky girl yesterday, to be invited to lunch at Rockpool Bar and Grill in Melbourne as a guest of Qantas. They are currently launching their new frequent flyer cards with an inbuilt cash passport (known as Qantas Cash), so lunch was a great opportunity to learn about the product, ask a few questions, and of course enjoy a fabulous meal.

The menu

One of the lovely entrees.

Steak main with sides including potato gratin.

Dessert: I had the pav which was just amazing (and huge!) but also snuck in a taste of my neighbours chocolate dessert.

A very enjoyable day all round, and Melbourne certainly put on some good weather for it.
